About the event
Beyond Human Wisdom: Can We Survive the Rise of AGI? This talk begins by confronting an uncomfortable possibility: that our collective judgment is no longer sufficient for the world we are creating. It argues that as AI hits new heights of power, our most deeply rooted flaws—biases, tribalism, and short-term thinking—leave us dangerously exposed to catastrophe. This cumulates with a radical proposition: unable to develop our own wisdom in time, we may be forced to rely on wise AI advisors to navigate the path ahead. The second half of this talk will provide a map of the space, including key divides and an overview of what I consider to be some of the most interesting work. About the speaker Christopher Leong has been involved in the AI Safety space for more than half a decade. He co-founded AI Safety Australia and New Zealand, completed a summer fellowship with the Stanford Existential Risk Initiative and facilitated for both BlueDot Impact and the Center for AI Safety. More recently he has shifted his focus to wise AI, winning third prize in an AI Impacts essay competition, leading an AI Safety Camp project and completing an ERA fellowship.
