About the event

This event is part of a global initiative organized by Apart Research in partnership with PIBBSS (Physics and Intelligence-Based Interdisciplinary Safety Studies). The global event page is here: https://apartresearch.com/sprints/ai-safety-x-physics-grand-challenge-2025-07-25-to-2025-07-27 As artificial intelligence systems become increasingly powerful and widespread, ensuring they remain beneficial and aligned with human values has emerged as one of the most critical technical challenges of our time. AI safety research focuses on understanding how AI systems work internally, predicting their behavior as they scale up, and developing methods to ensure they remain under meaningful human control. Think of it this way: we're building systems that may soon surpass human intelligence in many domains, yet we don't fully understand how they make decisions or what they'll do when faced with novel situations. This is where physics thinking becomes invaluable.
