We are looking for an Executive Director with senior leadership experience in government, startups or research organisations to lead the Singapore AI Safety Hub. Interest in AI safety, especially large-scale and catastrophic risks from AI, is critical.

About SASH
​
Over the last year Singapore’s potential for making outsized contributions to AI Safety has become evident: From establishing one of the world’s largest AI Safety Institutes and building consensus amongst international researchers to jumpstarting the commercial AI Assurance space and driving responsible AI adoption in government.
​
The Singapore AI Safety Hub (SASH) is a nonprofit building a platform in Asia for AI safety governance, technical research, and ecosystem development. Backed by early momentum and growing institutional interest, we’re now looking for a founding Executive Director to lead the next phase of our growth. We envision SASH as a globally credible hub, convening researchers, advising governance efforts, and strengthening regional coordination on frontier AI risks. As Executive Director, you will shape this vision, scale the team, deepen partnerships, and anchor SASH as a key node in the global AI safety ecosystem.

The Role
​
Initially you will report directly to our Founder Miro Plueckebaum and have significant autonomy over operations and strategy. Depending on the candidate, Miro may move into an advisory role within a few months.
​
Key Responsibilities
​​

Strategic Leadership: Develop organization vision, build stakeholder relationships, and drive fundraising efforts
-
Residency program management: Design, launch and oversee our residency program, including recruiting top AI safety experts and helping them scope research projects, source collaborators and ensure impactful outputs

Upskilling program development: Work together with existing AI Safety upskilling nonprofits to bring their programmes to Singapore

Governance Engagement: Expand relationships with key AI governance stakeholders domestically and internationally, identifying areas of collaboration and establishing SASH as a trusted source of advice
-
Team Management: Manage and grow a small team, establishing basic processes for task management, goal setting and feedback
-
Additional responsibilities include: Overseeing co-working space, events, expenses and finances, legal and paperwork

Required Qualifications
​​
-
6-10+ years experience in research, technology, or policy organisations
-
At least 3 years of leadership and people management experience with a track record of building and scaling organisations

Experience working in or with government or a fast moving startup environment
-
Exceptional leadership, strategic thinking, and project management abilities
-
Strong communication skills and ability to engage diverse audiences
-
Track record of engaging senior stakeholders
-
Highly motivated to advance AI safety
Preferred Qualifications

Past experience in AI Safety (e.g. governance or technical research)

International experience

Demonstrated experience raising >$500K+ in funding for mission-driven organizations

Experience designing and launching research or educational programs that have served 100+ participants

Experience engaging with diverse governance stakeholders

In our first six months we’ve grown rapidly:

Established a co-working space with members from leading international AI Safety organisations such as FAR.AI, Concordia AI, Apart Research, TruthfulAI alongside local researchers and practitioners

Organized more than 15 events (talks, socials, workshops, hackathons) with up to 120 attendees including from frontier AI labs, government, corporations, startups and academia

We’ve just closed our second funding round and have big plans for the future:

Sponsoring and incubating leading AI safety research via a residency program aimed at bringing top international AI safety researchers to Singapore for collaborative projects

About the Team:
SASH was founded in early 2025 by Miro Plueckebaum and is fiscally sponsored by Impact Academy.

Miro splits his time between working with the Oxford Martin AI Governance Initiative, The Centre for the Governance of AI and running SASH. He has 7 years of experience in corporate AI governance and product management across Europe and Asia.

Valerie Pang is the Program Manager at SASH, where she handles memberships, marketing, events, and operations. She has 4 years of tech company experience and 2 years of non-profit experience across marketing, business operations, event management and community engagement.
​

Clement Neo is the Research Community Coordinator at SASH, where he leads efforts to engage researchers and develop technical programming around AI safety. He is a Research Engineer at the Singapore AI Safety Institute and advises technical AI safety projects through Apart Research.
